Gut Guard Ingredients

Pediococcus acidilactici: Pediococcus acidilactici plays a crucial role in maintaining gut health by supporting the gut lining and intestinal permeability. This probiotic helps to fortify the intestinal barrier, which prevents harmful substances and pathogens from entering the bloodstream. Its beneficial effects on the gut lining can help support a healthier immune system response.

Bacillus subtilis: Bacillus subtilis is a probiotic bacteria found in soil and the canine gut. B. subtilis is known for its ability to support a healthy gut microbiome, enhance digestive health and support immune function. It produces byproducts that can help suppress harmful bacteria and promote the growth of beneficial bacteria. Additionally, Bacillus subtilis has been associated with digestive enzyme production, aiding in the digestion of food and the supporting against gastrointestinal disorders.

Soil-based probiotics, like Bacillus subtilis, are often considered superior to other probiotics due to their exceptional resilience and ability to survive the acidic environment of the stomach, ensuring they reach the intestines where they can be most beneficial. Their inherent stability means they don't require refrigeration and maintain potency over time and their robust nature allows for a potentially broader impact on the gut microbiome.

Bacillus coagulans:  A soil-based probiotic that supports gut health by enhancing the balance of the intestinal microbiota, contributing to improved digestion and reducing symptoms of occasional bloating, gas, and diarrhea. It also supports the immune system by producing short-chain fatty acids, which are crucial for gut health and promotes the body's gut and immune health.

L-glutamine: An amino acid, plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the intestinal lining, thereby supporting gut health by preventing the leakage of harmful substances into the body. It serves as a primary fuel source for the cells of the intestinal lining, promoting their growth and repair, which can help with gut-related issues. Additionally, L-glutamine can support a normal inflammatory response in the gut, further supporting digestive health.

Deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL) root:  A form of licorice that's widely recognized for its ability to soothe gastrointestinal problems, as it helps to support the gut lining and esophagus, assisting with the symptoms of acid reflux and indigestion. Additionally, its anti-inflammatory and demulcent properties support the natural resistance to ulcers and maintain the health of the mucous membranes lining the digestive tract.

N-acetyl glucosamine (NAG): A compound that plays a key role in the health of the gastrointestinal lining, supporting the integrity of the gut barrier. Beyond its benefits for gut health, NAG is also involved in the synthesis of hyaluronic acid, contributing to joint health by promoting healthy cartilage, skin and a balanced inflammatory response.

Marshmallow root: Renowned for its mucilaginous properties, which bolster the gut lining. Its ability to promote healthy mucus secretion helps support overall gut health and aids in the integrity of the mucosal lining.

Organic Aloe vera: Celebrated for its natural soothing properties, which can benefit the gut lining. Its gel contains polysaccharides that support the lining of the digestive tract.

Slippery elm: Contains mucilage, a gel-like substance that can coat and help soothe the mucous membranes lining the digestive tract. Slippery elm can also assist nerve endings in the gastrointestinal tract to increase mucus secretion, which helps form a healthy coating in the mucous membrane.

Dandelion root: Renowned for its liver-supporting and detoxifying properties, aiding in the removal of toxins and promoting liver health. It also acts as a natural diuretic, helping to manage fluid retention and support kidney function. Rich in antioxidants, dandelion root can further contribute to a normal inflammatory response.

Ginger root: Renowned for its potent antioxidative properties and its ability to support a healthy inflammatory response. It helps the body's ability to produce saliva, bile, and gastric enzymes, enhances the digestion and absorption of nutrients.

Organic Chamomile: Widely recognized for its calming properties, its ability to balance the inflammatory response in the gut and for maintaining a healthy digestive system.

Burdock root: Supports healthy skin and is also rich in antioxidants, which neutralize harmful free radicals. Burdock root also supports liver function and digestion, thanks to its inulin content, a type of soluble fiber that supports healthy gut bacteria.

Humic acid: A natural component of soil and a byproduct of the decomposition of leaves and other plant material by soil-based microorganisms. Humic acid supports a healthy gut and helps detoxify from heavy metals and environmental toxins. It also supplies antioxidants and supports the immune system.

Fulvic Acid: Like humic acid, fulvic acid is a part of the organic matter in soil, peat and water. Fulvic acid helps detoxify from heavy metals and environmental toxins, supports healthy skin and provides antioxidants.

FAQs

How does Gut Guard support dogs with sensitive or distressed guts?

Gut Guard combines probiotics, amino acids and soothing herbs to help maintain the integrity of the gut lining and support normal digestive function. It’s designed for dogs who need extra help keeping their digestive systems balanced and comfortable.

What makes Gut Guard different from regular probiotics?

While most probiotics only add good bacteria, Gut Guard goes further. It includes amino acids and herbal ingredients that help nourish and protect the gut lining, supporting both the microbiome and the tissue that houses it.

How long before I see results?

Every dog is different, but many pet parents notice improved stool quality, calmer digestion, and overall comfort within 1–3 weeks of consistent use.

Is Gut Guard safe for puppies and senior dogs?

Gut Guard is best used on adult dogs and seniors since puppies should have a better balanced gut lining. For puppies, we recommend Protect, our everyday probiotic that gently helps detoxify from environmental toxins.

Can I use Gut Guard everyday?

Yes. Gut Guard should be used daily, but only for 60 days at a time. If your dog has improved after 60 days, we recommend switching to Protect for everyday probiotic support. If your dog still shows signs of a distressed gut, give Protect for 30 days, then give Gut Guard for 60 more days before changing back to Protect.

How does Gut Guard help with Leaky Gut?

Leaky gut happens when the intestinal barrier becomes stressed or overly permeable. Gut Guard provides key ingredients like L-glutamine and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine that help maintain a strong, healthy gut barrier and normal mucosal function.
